#Accounting Packages
11 messages in this thread
I am looking to a good accounting program for the amiga (2000 w/hd). There
seem to be two packages for sale (Best Business Mngt & Easy Ledgers. Does
anyone have any experience with either of these, or another?
I have been using PHASAR for 3 years. It is great, the support is great
and I have nothing but good experiences with this program.

I agree with Dave about Phasar. I currently us 4.0 and it is very good.
However, it is intended for personal accounting, and I have just bought
Service Industry Accounting to handle the books for my wife's landscaping
business. I am just in the process of learning to use it, but so far am
not a happy camper. Of course I have just had it two days. I may be back
in a couple of days asking for help.

Good luck with S.I.A. It *could* have been a great program, but the
Amiga accounting software market is so anemic, developers won't waste
development resources on it. I doubt if S.I.A. will ever see the features
it needs. It can't even do simple alphabetical sorts. You can only print
accounts in the order you enter them in. Pretty lame. On the other hand,
the program does have some good features, but over-all is crippled. The PC
version has most of the features that you'll wish for in your version.

Thanks for the info

Tried them both and settled on BBM. I know my accountant likes BBM much
better than Easy Ledgers. I also do because while not an accountant (or
even close!), I like to be able to look at the actual journals.

Did you upgrade to BBM 3.0? Previous versions couldn't handle more than
one tax catagory. What about resale accounts? Lots of other problems, and
an unresponsive "support" system. I liked S.A.I. better, but it too, was
plagued with shortcomings. We do all of our accounting on PCs (Novell
network) using a program called ELITE, which is a super version of S.I.A.
for PC networks. I use an Amiga with ProPage & a LaserJet III for
advertising copy.

Yes I did but have not done much with it. Accounting is one of those
things that I do only when the pressure is high enough!

I have experience with both. neither one of them is perfect, but Easy
Ledgers is the better of the two, in my opinion. It does, however, lack
some basic features…like some simple sorting , etc.
Sybiz has a much better version of the same program for the IBM &
compatibles (simply because the development money is going in that
direction).
