I am some of the Commodore propaganda released at CES. Some very nice
looking flyers.. and information jacket full of color slides from CD32
screens of actual titles.
A comparison chart — and it is fair believe it or not!
I hear rumors of QVC getting CD32 shortly for sale.. lots of neat stuff.
Hang in there–perhaps they are doing it right. I think i have decided to
buy a CD32 –and I was damn close to buying CDi as I really like some of
the titles. And it has a shipping FMV module now. 🙂
Now that the FMV module is shipping for CD32 in the UK, etc. I want one.

I don't know about the US, but the FMV module is available in Canada for
CD32.
I do some consulting and sold a CD32 to a local 15 year old. A couple of
days later, he told me that he was selling his Sega Genesis and all of the
game cartridges. He wants to use most of the money to buy more CD32
games.
I've seen the CD32 games first hand and the graphics are fantastic. The
animation in the games are extremely smooth and the audio is incomparable.
When the kid wasn't playing his machine, he was playing CD music on it.
CD32 lets you use mouse and joystick for using old CDTV titles.

Actually, Amiga and Video Toaster consulting, a division of Highland Grey
Consulting Inc.. I work for the fellow who runs the biz. There's also a PC
and Mac division.
In this case, we had a young client who wanted to get the CD32. The Amiga
area is usually delegated to setting up Amiga/Toaster workstations for
cable and regular television stations. We also set up multi-media
hardware, using the Amiga by preference.
Highland Grey is also starting up another division dedicated to producing
video with the Amiga tools we are able to acquire from the sales division.
Gradually, I'll be moving more into video applications as we get that
division better established.

Well, it sounds like my day was a lot less fun than yours! All I did today was
do boring network and pre-press stuff. I'd certainly trade places, if I could
do the kind of stuff you're doing on the Amiga !!

You wanna hear another killer? My boss told me our city isn't going to be
carrying Babylon 5 the series. Luckily, he has a friend with a satellite
dish who pulls in B5 distribution feeds, so, as with the movie, I and a
very select few, will be getting a video copy of each episode.
I think there's going to be alot of local residents with torches and
pickforks coming to my house soon. *B^)

you can use "Diggers" with a mouse connected to the second port. There are
several games on the "Demo Collection II CD" which are mouse and/or
joystick compatible.

Well, the CATS disk 'lets' you use the mouse.
Well, Diggers lets you play with a mouse (it becomes really easier!).
Robocod accpets a joystick…
To be precise :
Port 0 is still the mouse port on CD32
Port 1 the joystick port…
But the joypad can be plugged in either. On port 0, button Red and Blue
become Mouse Buttons Left and Right. On port 1, Button Red becomes Fire
Button.

I thought the ports on the CD32 were supposed to be auto sensing, and that
it didn't matter which port a mouse was plugged in to ? (well this is what
I remember reading sometime back).

AFAIK, and AFAI've seen, the CD32 ports are basically the same as on
a 'normal' Amiga. So the auto-sensing won't come from the hardware,
but from the programmation! If you boot a normal workbench on CD32
(CDPD3 from Almathera for example), mouse plugged in Port 0 will
work, but nothing will happen in Port 1. Now most software CD32
dedicated should detect (there are C= provided routines to do so)
devices plugged in ports (and C= is highly recommending it)

Well I would really like to see CBM do it right for a change, but given
their previous track record, lets say I'm skeptical <g>. QVC sales would
be cool, I even watch QVC once in awhile. And a few infomercials of their
own wouldn't hurt either. But we will just have to wait and see over the
next few months on whether or not CBM actually does have a marketing
department.
