#PaintJet Ink & Paper?

Is there any way to refill the black ink cartridge for the Hewlett Packard
PaintJet printer? The cost is not the only issue. This time there was only
ONE cartridge on the shelf in Berkeley. At $30 per (incl. tax) stocking
several for those times one runs out Saturday evening in the middle of a
major printing task is a bit steep. While in this general area of Help!,
are there any acceptable alternatiaves to HP's paper for good color work?
Neither store has a single package of that right now. But then this is a
high-tech backwater so what do I expect. – Backwaters? In Berkeley? Any
help would be appreciated.

I haven't seen any HP PJ refill gadgets, so cannot help you there.
I can tell you that I used several different types of ink-jet paper in my
PaintJet, and nothing came close to the quality of the HP PJ paper. General
saturation, color accuracy and bleeding were all better with the HP PJ
paper. It cost more, but was well worth it.
You might check Creative Computers's mail order ads. I've seen PJ black
and color cartridges there reasonably priced, and paper too.

I saw a brief new product announcement for a Paintjet reloader in the
latest Computer Shopper. My copy is down at the store, so I can't give you
a phone number. The setup looked like a syringe and a bottle. We called to
get some info comming in, but I wasn't the one who talked to them. -Jim
Carl: You might try over in the Hewlett-Packard forum (Go HP). I've seen
lots of discussions about refilling Deskjet carts but don't remember
anything about Paintjet carts. They are real friendly and very helpful.

I'd like to know this as well. I have the refills for the DeskJet
cartriges ($19 for two) and they are available in colors, but I have no
idea if they will work in a painjet (but they should I'd think).
