Diskcopies on A3000

Has anyone been able to make multiple disk copies on a 3000? I mean where
the source disk is buffered in ram, and copied out to DF0: (and DF1: and
DF2:). I've tried Marauder, TurboBackup, SuperDuper, and DFC5, and none of
them will work. Making a simple diskcopy is no problem, but buffering the
source in ram so I can use all three of my floppies won't work. I'm
thinking maybe it has something to do with the 32-bit ram in a 3000? If
anyone knows of a program that works on a 3000, please let me know….

Joel, Project D does multiple copies on an A3000. On computers with
limited memory it won't do it but if you have an A3000 that shouldn't be a
problem. I can't tell if it will multicopy on an A3000 with only 2 Megs,
because mine has 6, but it does run on my A2000 with 3.

That would assume that sufficient memory was 'free', right? If you have a
three meg machine, but 1.5 meg are devoted to a RAD disk or such, then you
might not have enough memory, right? Particularly contiguous memory.
Just a thought for the A3000 owner who was having problems.

Possibly, I have never had problems with project D even when
multitasking. Granted with 6 megs memory isn't usually an issue the way I
use my machine.

Bruce, I have to ask, have you actually done this? I mean buffered the
source disk in ram, then used all your available drives for the copies? If
so, I'll order Project D tomorrow. Lack of memory isn't the problem since
I have 10 megs in my 3000. All 4 programs I mentioned worked fine on my
2000, but not on my 3000. -Joel
Joel, The program does do this. I only have two drives on my A2000 and one
on my A3000 but it copies the disk to ram then proceeds to make as many
copies as I want. It does write to both drives on the A2000 on the same
pass and will continue to make copies from ram (on both machines) until I
stop it.

DiskMaster 2.0 will make multiple disk copies by copying the source disk
into RAM. This new version of DM 2.0 also works under AmigaDOS 2.0. It is
the best disk utility I have seen.

Is DM 2.0 out and available? I've had DiskMaster since its shareware days
through 1.3 and 1.4 and haven't heard of any upgrade from them.

Yes, I have been using my copy of DiskMaster 2 for a couple of weeks and
I can't recommend it enough! You should have gotten your upgrade notice
from PP&S in the mail if you sent in your registration card. I would call
them ASAP. The $25 upgrade fee was probably the best software money I have
spent. You don't need to send in your origional disk. You get a new disk
and a 100-plus page manual. If you have any questions I'll do my best to
answer them.

I saw DiskMaster 2.0 in two separate Phila area Amiga stores. I want
to hear more about the various directory programs before deciding. Right
now I am using Directory Work which works fine for me.

I only HAVE one floppy on my 3000, but I'll try to borrow the club's
extra disk drives and try out SuperDuper here. Because I'm on vacation,
and this isn't the _highest_ priority of mine right now <grin>, ping me
again in a couple days to remind me that I said I'd test it.
