I've successfully mounted the Toshiba 3201 on an Amiga 3000 using the Hypermedia Concepts driver, available for about $40. What sorts of problems are you having?

John, How did you mount your CDROM using HC's drivers on the A3000? I'm trying to mount my Toshiba 3301 on a A2000/2091 using HC's drivers. But I'm getting NOT A DOS DISK message under INFO. Raman ]/exit typ

I mounted a borrowed 3201A, I think it was. I haven't tried the 3301 yet on the Amiga at all, I've only connected it to my Mac IIci. I'm just hoping it will work. I've got to get a different hard disk controller for the Amiga, perhaps upgrading to a GVP FaastROM, but now I'm getting worried. 🙂

Could be an older version of CDROM-FS. When I talked to the programmer, he informed me that the version that HyperMedia sold me was and older one and to send in for the upgrade. Something about some problems with Toshiba CD-ROMS (which is what I have too). He said that if it is going to work, it'll come up as CD8: in my version. Plus some other misc stuff I believe.

I currently have a 3100b and a 5200 in house. Had a 3301b but just installed it in a system that's going out this morning. I have an A500 and Trumpcard 500, and forgot to lookup the driver version… but knowing that the latest is .702 and he said I needed to send it back for upgrade, I imagine it's .700 or so (I seem to remember the .7 part).

It's very easy to use, just cut-and-paste an entry from a sample file to your "Mountlist", then copy a driver to DEVS:, then execute a "MOUNT CD0:" command. It require s alittle CLI manipulation, but other than that, it was easy.

I'm using the SCSI port, do I have to Terminate the external SCSI as well as the internal SCSI. Can someone explain this to me. I don't quite understand. I'm using the Toshiba 3301-A1 external CD Rom drive. Thanks, Ben Goodyear

For what it's worth, the manual tells you to add the terminator to the drive's second SCSI connector, when you connect it to the Mac. I presume the same is true for the Amiga. Which CD-ROM file system software are you using, on which controller?

Installing it is a breeze. Double click the install icon, edit the supplied mountlist.cdrom to reflect your controller/device/cdrom drive/and device name, and then MOUNT it. BTW, you have to use the MOUNT command from WB 1.3.2. The ARP version doesn't suppport the BLOCKSIZE command, instead calling it SIZEBLOCK, and neither the ARP MOUNT nor WB 1.3 MOUNT pass the parameters on. This is from the programmer of CDROM-FS who btw is a developer on the CBM CDTV stuff. I found out about the MOUNT because of the Illegal Keyword BLOCKSIZE errormessage I got that prompted the call.

John, HyperMedia Concepts doesn't own that driver, they are just a dealer selling it. They're the only ones I know of by name selling it and can be found in AC's Guide to the Amiga. But I talked to the programmer in Canada, and the U.S. Distributor/Support is a company in Texas (but I forget the name).

Call HyperMedia (number's in the AC Guide to the Amiga under Misc Hardware)… they're just one of the dealers selling a Canadian product called CDROM-FS. It works with the A590, A2091, A3000, HardFrame and any other scsi interface that fully supports SCSI DIRECT protocol. The cost is $49. If it's a Toshiba 3100 you might have some problems.
