Central Coast Software is pleased to announce a new version of Quarterback, the best selling hard disk backup program for the Amiga. Quarterback 6.0 adds several new features and enhancements, including: * Faster compression during backups–in most cases compressing as fast as it saves to floppy drives. * Support for multiple tapes per backup session, for backing up very large drives. * Support for special features of advanced tape drives, such as hardware-based compression, fast tape advance, and quick erase. * Several new AREXX macro commands, for more complete control over Quarterback. * Many new user options, for customizing Quarterback to your own preferences. * An even more streamlined user interface, making it even easier to use than before! * All new Schedule Pro program to schedule and perform automatic backups! Schedule Pro is the most advanced scheduling program of its kind on the Amiga. Not only can you use it to schedule and run Quarterback, but you can use it to automatically run _any_ AmigaDOS program or AREXX script. You can even use it to display reminders on your screen! You can schedule events for a single occurrence, or to happen on a regular basis–either hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. You can even schedule them to occur only on particular days of the week, or particular months of the year. Your scheduling options are virtually unlimited! Quarterback 6.0 is available now, and has a new suggested retail price of $99.95. Upgrades from previous versions are available for $30.00 US when upgrading from version 5.0, $40.00 for upgrading from older versions (plus $5.00 shipping and handling in the US, $10.00 foreign). You can call our office at (512) 328-6650 for more information, or to order your upgrade. James Bayless Central Coast Software A division of New Horizons Software, Inc.

Does the new 6.0 release allow multiple volume backup to tape without having to mess with Macros or Arexx? -Jonathan // Amiga online via Autopilot \\// MAC Quadra 700 & 486 emulation via Amiga!

Jonathan, Not yet as far as I can tell. If by "mess with Macros or Arexx" you mean you don't want to have to write your own macros. I have uploaded my set of macros for Quarterback V5.0 that I use to backup several volumes to tape. You just need to enter your volume names into the ARexx macros and make a few other changes to set things up the first time. After that you just have to start the macro from Quarterback. The file is MLTBAK.LHA in the AmigaUser forum library 9, Disk Utilities. But before you, or anyone else, download MLTBAK.LHA I must say that the version in the libraries does not work well with Quarterback V6.0. Central Coast Software has added a new Backup Option that changed the way Quarterback works with macros. I am testing the new version of the macros and will be uploading them next week after I get the documentation updates completed. So If you are going to get Quarterback 6.0 you might want to wait for the new version to be uploaded. // \X/ Amiga or bust! Gary Bonnstetter, Bonnsoft

I own QB 5.0 and Ami-Back 2.0e … I was hoping that I would not have to invoke multivolume backups via a Macro. Oh well. -Jonathan // Amiga online via Autopilot \\// MAC Quadra 700 & 486 emulation via Amiga!

Jonathan, As with the 5.0 version we have provided a multiple backup macro. Macros still require AREXX. Randy Brooks Central Coast Software A division of New Horizons Software, Inc.
