Flight Simulation
6 messages in this thread
Hi,
Does anyone know of a Yoke and Rudder pedals that would be compatible
with the Amiga 2500 and SubLogic Flight Simulator II? Are there any more
realistic flight simulator programs coming out for the amiga, or any
already out? Seems like a great graphics machine like this is perfect for
this type of application!
Thanks,
Mark
I agree, the Ami is made for flight sims but unfortunately the PC gets the
most programs and these are ported over – with the expected results – they
are better on the original PC.
I look for new flight sims that are native to the Amiga before I buy.

The Amiga flight sim market is picking up in a big way, mainly because the
IBM ports are getting to be much, much better. F-15 STrike Eagle II looks
to be much better than on the IBM. Red Baron is shipping for the Amiga this
fall on 10 disks. I've got more info I will pass along later, but I
wouldn't want any would-be Amiga enthusiast to get the idea that the Amiga
is relatively worthless for Flight Simulators. That simply isn't the case.
Just my opinion, of course. <g>
Your right! I get fustrated (as many other Amiga enthusiasts) when the
amiga isn't used towards it's capacity.
But I do stand behind my opinion:
Flight Sim ports from IBM are terrible
If the ports were designed on the amiga then ported, they would be much
better
I *only* like simulators (real-time) and don't buy anyother games Let me
know your opinion on the games you have.

Maxximum Corp made a version of their Maxx Yoke Controller for the Amiga.
It had a switch on it (rather crudely installed) that switched between
Digital (used by most Amiga games) and Analog modes. I have one (although I
never use it).
They stopped making it as Flight Sim II was the only program known to ever
come out for the Amiga that offered an analog joystick mode. And because of
that, sales were terrible.
They also make rudder pedals for their controller, but I don't know if they
work on the Amiga or not.
Personally, the Analog vs Digital is one of the reasons that I really don't
care for flight sims on the Amiga. On my VGA & Soundblaster equipped '386
(which only uses Analog sticks) the flight sims programs are very good,
tend to be more realistic, etc.
If fact, the only flight sim on the Amiga that I like is F/A 18
Interceptor, which on the IBM is called Jet Fighter II I believe. (at least
it sure looks like the same program).
Both F-19 Stealth Fighter and F-15 Strike Eagle II support analogue
joysticks. Spectrum Holobyte has indicated that Flight of the Intruder will
support analogue sticks as well.
