2.0 Good News (?)

According to a message posted today on usenet, Commodore has shipped
another disk-based upgrade for A3000 owners. QUOTE:
It is a 5 disk set, and includes several changes, including the awaited
"Outline Font Technology". It should be available at you dealer,we got ours
Saturday. Also include in the package was a letter from VP of sales
Geoffrey Stiles with several interesting announcements. Of interest is the
extension of the Power-Up program, until September 30, 1991. Of particular
interest was this blurb:
"As you know, to upgrade an A500 or A2000 series machine to 2.0, a 2.0
ROM Enhancer Kit is necessary. The details of the Enhancer Kit and upgrade
procedures are currently being adressed. We will notify you of the details
surrounding this procedure as soon as they are finalized"
This is the first "official" statement I have seen concerning any sort of
plans for ugrading the A500. It's about time! UNQUOTE.
Kevin–
I think its the Outline Font Technology addition that is especially
interesting…any more info??

Jon – nothing else posted so far (outline fonts/ new version). But if it's
in the hands of dealers now, I suppose others could speak up a little 🙂
2.0 supports Compugraphic Intellifont Technology, but on screen
only. I believe screen resolution is 76dpi, right? Well, some such. Point
is, you can get the maximal display quality for your screen, but printing
is still 76dpi. All-round Compugraphic support is a future goal.
CompuGraphic is the font technology used in the HP LaserJet IIIs.
Also, I believe you can use all the compugrahic fonts that gold disk sells
with 2.0 directly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
