Could someone please tell me the difference between the Mega Midget
Racer economy and the regular one? The ads i've seen only say that it's
missing a MMU or something like that. So what is this MMU thing and how
much speed will it impede?

Darren, Your right about the difference between the economy MMR and the
standard. MMU stands for "memory management unit". It's a part of the
regular 68030 processor chip. It allows the cpu to do some fancy things
with memory such as overwrite protection and mapping one region to another.
It has no direct effect on processor speed however when fast 32 bit RAM is
available using a program like setcpu (available here) allows you to remap
the kickstart ROM to the 32 bit RAM resulting in a noticeable speed up in
almost everything. If Amiga UNIX is ever released for the rest of us you
will also need the MMU (at least). The MMR (either version) can be
configured with what CSA calls SRAM which can also be loaded with the
kickstart code using the software provided. This does not need the MMU. If
ultimate speed is your thing you should do one or the other. Hope this
