I just read your gleeful report on Director 2 capabilities. I got the
upgrade notice, but haven't used Director in over a year. Maybe I should
reconsider? What kind of music support has been added? Can you make calls
outside the program to "start up" programs and files that Director doesn't
directly support?

I can't easily answer your questions since I bought the Director 2
outright, rather than upgrading from version 1. However, I have read
several messages (on Usenet, I think) regarding the Right Answers Group
looking for a new home after PeopleLink's demise, with CompuServe being
mentioned several times. Let's hope.

I called "Right Answers" sometime before PLink went plunk. The person I
spoke to said they might get back on CI$ at sometime. Their main concern
was that CI$ was just too expensive. I would love it if they uploaded some
of their Director 2 demos and animations here on CompuServe. Much of their
stuff on PLink never made it over here. I think Director is an OUTSTANDING
piece of software that can do nearly anything (except access a LaserDisk
and that will be added to the Toolkit upgrade.) I see lots of apps done
with CanDo but very little done with Director. I wish I knew why!

Sure enough, online support for The Director version 2 is in the process of
moving to the CompuServe vendor forum. We're awaiting the contract now.

Congrats! And if we can get enough people stopping by every day (what is
it, something around a couple of hundred or so average) in your section,
CIS might even give you your own full forum! ;-D
I was impressed with 1.0 (never got it though as I REALLY don't have a need
for it) and 2.0 sounds even better. Lots of power at a reasonable price.
BTW, my ex-room mate bought 1.0 some time ago ('88 or so I think), around
the time it first came out. What is the upgrade policy… He did some
neat stuff with 1.0 and if it's cheap enough I might just buy his upgrade
for him to see what he can do with 2.0. (maybe an early Xmas present).
