#AnimPro prod. & porting

Ani Pro and Animator will not support 16 color animations. However, the
windows player will compress a 256 color palette down to 16 colors in order
to work with windows; the number of colors avaialable to AAWIN is~
dependant on windows. Our .FLI and .FLC file formats are 256 color
formats, but that~ doesn't mean you can't bring in a 16-color ~image and
use it~.
I know of no more convenient method of going from MacroMind Director to
Animator.
As for the size of your resulting .FLC formats, I'm not sure why they
should be so much larger. What is stored from one frame to the next is
only the changes between those two frames, and it is stored in a compressed
format to boot. Just for grins, have you run a One Palette on the
resulting animation yet?
As for a driver for your card, if the manufacturer does not have a VESA
driver available for you to use, try calling Panacea at 800-729-7420; they
can probably help you out.
Thanks very much…I'll follow up on those drivers. No I haven't tried the
One Palette, but I will now!
I use a Speedstar VGA card with my computer and I think I have an answer to
your display problems. You need to find a program called VMODE that is
buried somewhere in your /STAR directory (unfortunately I'm at a differen't
computer right now so I can't look that up for you). At any rate, once you
are in that subdirectory, type VMODE VESA. That will make your card VESA
compatible, and the next time you run ANIPro you should be able to access
the higher resolutions. You can add the VMODE VESA command to your
autoexec.bat, that way your card will always be configured for VESA
compatibility. Hope this helps…
