Sherwood, Just got back. We like the Diamond Speedstar 24 as a 24-bit VGA. Genoa used to be a bit late with drivers and we weren't satisfied w/tech support on previous products (back in the 5400 & 6400 days). Is it Tseng Labs-based? Diamond is also coming out with the 24X, accelerated for Windows, although I believe that board is S3-based. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates

yes its tseng based on the 4000. i had a very simple problem with 1024x768x256 panacea drivers conficting with the genoa but i just set the drivers up differntly and every thing worked great. its a nice card for 140.00 and the 640x480x24 works great. and i also noticed about a 25% increase in the redraw time in the editor so im happy. sherwood

Kevin, Enjoy the show? What were the highlights in your opinion? I was wondering how much the Speedstar 24 is and which drivers would work with 3ds2.0 – I checked my Vibrant drivers and there was no mention of that card unless it's a ramdac or sierra based system for true colour. Martin

Kevin, I used to like to Diamond card also. I have recieved news that the current 24-bit card will be discontinued shortly. The will stop using the TSENG 4000 and start using the Western Digital. The 3DS drivers I recieved don't support 24 bit color. Also rel 1 of the windows drivers caused problems. Diamonds says, "Ya, we know."

BTW, the 24X is not S3 and will replace the 24. That is why Diamond is not thinking about enhancing the Speedstar 24 drivers.
