Roger D, Great to find another HP Scanjet IIc user. It is great in the Window environment It supports million colors scanned images but I can't find the .TGA file extension when you create a file. I'm using the Deskscan software. Let me know how you are using it with 3DS. My use is primarly architecture. I hope to use it to create backgrounds and place new structures in it. Also hope to create texture maps. Keep in touch Wayne L,

Like Jack pointed out, using the Photofinish software, and saving out compressed TIFs seems to work. I have a hard time with the TGAs though, as I said in my message to Jack at Yost. For architectural, I've found that taking or finding a good picture of a repeatable portion of a building and repeating it by tiling works really well, like for windows in a building. Having a scanner is essential for quality bitmaps, bumpmaps, etc. I think I'll have to scope out some image editing software to see if there's anything that puts out reliable compressed TGA. If I can help, let me know. Roger D.

I also use the HP IIc. And it works great! I usually scan in Millions of colors, then load the image in PhotoStyler for touch-up and then convert it to 8Bit color (since all of my output is in 8Bit anyway.) and then save it as a GIF to be used in 3DS. -MM
