#SupraFAX 14.4K woes…

John-
I deleted the T9600 file and set my modem init string to AT &F2 – just
like you suggested. I called my local 9600 node, and got a successful
connection.
The *second* time I tried to log on (nothing changed) I could not get a
connection at all! The modem tries to connect, but comes back 'NO
CARRIER'.
I tried &F0 in the init string, to see if I could get a reliable
connection with no compression or error correction – same deal. (First
time OK, next time nothing)
I'm ready to give up on CI$ at 9600! (^_^)

It sounds to me like you are changing the modem settings, but not saving
them to permanent ROM… thus, you connect fine on the first try, but when
the modem resets, it restores the old settings. Look in your Supra manual
for the AT command to save the settings to rom. Hope this helps.

Len,
There is no space in the init string. AT&F2. You said the second time.
you got nothing. Not even a carrier from CIS???

The second time – I got the carrier, but no 'CONNECT' message. It would
just sit and whine at me. I'd have to abort manually.
(Actually, I think I have it licked. ^_^)

Sorry to hear of your problems. My boss just got one of these beastie, so
I'm curious to know how you finally resolve the problem.
The only problem we have had thus far with his modem is that it doesn't
seem to want to communicate with my US Robotics WorldPort 9600BAUD V.32
MNP5 modem. We CONNECT 9600, but neither machine receives the characters
typed by the other. Seriall settings match on both machines, and we have
both logged onto local BBS' at 9600 baud w/o problems.
It is only when we try to talk between the 2 Amigas that I have this
trouble. (It isn't a problem with full/half duplex, either).
Have you noticed any similar problems, and if so is there a way to
alleviate it.
Thanks, Erik Flom
Erik-
Sorry, but I can't help you. I don't know anyone with that particular
modem, so I can't test it out myself. (^_^)
I'm getting so many weird things happening with this new modem, I'm
*almost* regretting my decision to get it. (That is, until I look at my
Whap screen during a download and it says '950 cps'. ^_-)
