#A2088 Hardcard questions

I am trying to install a Hardcard kit on the XT side of my Amiga. I've
got a Western Digital controller hooked up to a Miniscribe 8425. I want to
use it as the C: device and have the A2088 boot from it if possible. So
far I have been unable to access the HD with the FDisk command.
What I think I need to know is:
1) What do the jumper settings do on the Western Digital 1002A-WX1
controller card do? How do I set it up as the C: drive?
2) What arguments does JDisk take? My 2088 manual doesn't show any
arguments, and running it gives me the message "Error reading hard disk".
3) How do I boot from this drive?

I can't help you on the WD controller, but as to jdisk…that's not
a command or runnable file. On the MS-DOS side, jdisk.sys is a device that
needs to be added to your config.sys file:
device=jdisk.sys
On the Amiga side, you need the file JDisk.device in your Devs:
directory.
Having done that, and after runing the PCDisk program on the Amiga
side, you can then use JLink on the MS-DOS side to create a pseudo hard
drive on your Amiga side hard drive.
You can not boot from a JLink'ed drive.

I made a mistake. I meant to say FDISK not JDISK. I got the two mixed up
with all I've been doing with the BridgeBoard. I still can't get FDISK to
work.
I've gotten the HD to low-level format with the DEBUG program, but I
can't get the BB to recognize the HD as C: . When I boot, JDISK.SYS takes
up C: to F: and my RAMDRIVE.SYS takes up G: . I had thought that with the
HD controller in there JDISK would have scooted up one.
I know I can't be the only person to put a HD controller with their BB.

I use an HD on my BB side…it's a WD controller, but I forget the
model. No problems at all. Boot off the MS-DOS floppy and then try using
FDISK, I suspect what's going on is that since the disk partition hasn't
been "activated" by FDISK then the JLINK'ed drives "take over". By booting
off the floppy, WITHOUT activating the JLINK'ed drives (REM out the line of
your autoexec.bat where you invoke the JLINK command) then FDISK should
find the drive just fine.
At least it did for me (WD controller on the Bridge Side).

I'd suggest that you take DEVICE=JDISK.SYS out of your CONFIG.SYS and see
if you can access the drive through FDISK then. You can put it back after
you've successfully formatted the disk.
