Will you release a accelerator for the 030? also if you plan to where will it
go,my 4000 is filled w/a toaster,tbc and par,please consider this as the 030
needs an accelerator more than the 040 and there is alot of them out there.
thanks in advance
The GVP A4000 GForce040/40MHz is a REPLACEMENT for the Commodore processor
board currently installed in Amiga 4000 machines. Whether the A4000 is an '030
or '040, you simply pull it out and put our processor board in, and you get
instant accelerator, even if you started with an A4000/040…
In an A3000, the accelerator plugs into the processor slot underneath the
floppy drives and power supply…

Gary,
I have an A4000/040 and an A3000-16. Could I put the GVP in the 4000 and
move the 4000's 040 card to the A3000?
-Chris
Chris;
I can answer that one and the answer is simple… NO. The A4000's
processor board will fit that A3000T but will not physically fit the
A3000.

So I'd have to put the GVP in the A3000 and move my Toaster4000 there to
get the best speed from both machines and have the Toaster on the quickest
one.
-Chris
Yep, I suspect that is the case though realize that you would loose some
Toaster-4000 features (those that require AGA). I suspect that the lose
would not be a major one though.

Only Commodore could answer that. Obviously, the GVP A4000-040 WILL go into
the A4000. 🙂 The latter question you will have to ask to Commodore.

Christopher,
The answer is no. If you had an A3000T you could–but not the A3000. The
A3000T 040 Accelerator from Commodore is the accelerator that is being
used in the A3000.
There is one problem though–you need to get an upgraded RAMSEY chip (I
think) and that silly thing has been on backorder for months and months.
"There is one problem though–you need to get an upgraded RAMSEY chip…"
First Buster, now Ramsey… Is Ramsey socketed in the old 4000s?
-Chris
Chris,
The chips you need for the 040 accelerator are already in the A4000. The
A3000T which the orignal message was about requires new chips.
Oh, we talked to SMG & Gold Service. An absolute "no" on a4000
replacement motherboards unless you have purchased an A4091. Ridiculous
if you ask me. My advice is to make friends with your dealer and create
an A4000 motherboard problem. 🙂
I could also take it to the consumer advocate at a local TV station. <g>
