TEXT SCREEN APPEND UTIL.
6 messages in this thread
I'm making an Amiga BBS, and I'm looking for a program that can do the
following:
It must generate a routine to be added (linked at beggining or end) to
executable files that:
1) Open a custom screen or window, over either Workbench or CLI.
2) Display a text message on it.
3) Wait for a key press or mouse click.
4) Relocate the original program as if it were loaded from disk.
5) Execute the original program.
I need that the prog. be as compatible as possible (i.e. no kickstart or
machine-specific version calls).
I want to use it to add an ad or comment to the files I put on my BBS.
I don't know if such utility already exists as PD or shareware.
I only know QB programming on the PC, and I think that 68000 assembler is
the best for this task.
If any freelance shareware programmer whant to take this idea and build
your own program please do it!.
Or if you know of an existing program, let me know!.
Actually, there are a number of programs that will break when you attempt
to do this. Specifically, any of the ARP programs which depend on their
own resident mechanism and anything linked with the CBACK.O startup from
SAS/C. To make it actually work, you will have to go to some sort of
preloader such as you can find with PowerPacker. Of course with this
method, you can't make the program resident.
How much would such a program we worth to you??
I don't understand your question.
I guess you asked how much important is such a program to me.
answer:
very important.
If you know of an existing utility, let me know, else:
If you or any other programmer want to take my idea and make his own
program to distribute as shareware, let's do it!
I WILL BE THE FIRST TO PAY THE REGISTRATION!

I'm sorry, I do NOT know of such a program. I was wondering if it would
be worth my while to write one. When I asked how much it was worth, I
meant in terms of dollars/pesos/whathaveyou.
Vic,
Now I understand, you was talking about MONEY!. Well, I'm not rich (I
spent all my left money in making the next-to-be launched-BBS).
I understand that your effort should have an economic compensation.
I'm a big supporter of the shareware concept, so I register every shareware
program that fits my needs. Usually a shareware registration costs $25-$45
(dollars) and I think that's O.K. for a full-featured program like the PC'
WILDCAT BBS system I registered.
If you make this program for me, you could then register it and release
it as Shareware, and obtain a registration fee for every user!. So, I'm
disposed to pay not more than $50 for it. It should be: 1) SMALL, 2)
COMPATIBLE and 3) CONFIGURABLE (i.e. let me easily change the text message)
4) Anti-hackers (text encrypted).
If you think your efforts cost more than that, let me know the reason. I
think that's the right price. (I don't have more money to spend in it!).
If you want to do it, let me know, and I will send you a Mail with the
program features.
Regards,
Fernando Cassia.
