#AMAX II+ Problems

I'm having problems getting my new AMAX II+ Plus to work. On start-up I get
a "ROM Checksum Error" message. I've checked all the usual stuff,i.e.- bent
pins, ROM insertion problems, etc. Do any of you think I have bad ROMs? Is
there anyway other than in a MAC to check these babies?

The only thing you might check is the possibility the ROMs are in
upside down. Be sure the notch is aligned with the one on the socket.
Otherwise I cannot think of what the problem might be. It would be odd
that the ROMs themselves would be bad.

By any chance do you run a GVP 3001 board in your system? I have both the
Amax II and AMax II+, the Amax II WOrks great But the Amax II+ Comes up
with the ROM Checksum Error.
If I take out my GVP 3001 or use the switch I installed that lets me
disable the GVP Board to run in 68000 mode the Amax II+ WOrks fine.
I have called ReadySoft and they claim to be working on a fix.

If it's of any consolation to you, there seems to be a variety of
problems with the 3001 and Amax+. Mine wouldn't read mac disks. Readysoft
was kind enough to replace my original and now it seems to work fine witht
the 2.51 software. They are working hard to squash these problems and they
were most helpful to me, so bear with them.
I have AMAX II+ on my Amiga 2500 and I had the same problem for awhile.
Sometimes it would work, sometimes a checksum error. I just mashed all the
chips in, pulled them out, put them back in, never did figure it out, but
it works OK now. I would look for loose chips.
I forgot to mention, while the book says it doesn't matter which space the
ROMS go in, after I switched them it worked fine. Try switching the ROMs.

Please describe your system. I have the A3001 board and can only get the
AMaxII+ working upon cold (and I mean very cold) boot. I also must have
fastrom disabled.
My other problem stems from figuring out a way to get System 7 installed
since it comes on hi-density disks. And, the System file is 900+K, too big
for a double density.
I also cannot reliably read Mac floppies from my internal drive.
