Would getting an accelerator for my A500 (no, I'm not buying a 1200 or
4000 in the near future) speed up my DTP as far as sizing graphics and the
like. Obviously, a lot of it is controlled by the printer but do I need
an accelerator and/or a math co-processor to speed up the rest?

Yes, an accelerator will dramatically speed up your DTP program, (although
not your printer) however, I don't think any of the current crop of DTP
packages makes use of the math co-processor.
Great Michael, thanks for the reply. I noticed that the GVP A530 (?)
accelerator is down to an amazing $399.00 with 40 meg HD. At that kind of
price, it's hard to pass up. Has anyone here heard any negatives about
it? (Besides the obvious, "..you can only use it on a A500..") I'm
keeping my 500 so I'm looking forward to the bottom dropping out on some
of these prices.

Hi Mark. As a biased observer (I work at GVP), I just wanted to mention that I
think the A530 is one of the best products we've ever done. It makes an A500
feel truly wonderful. The A530 has probably gotten the best reviews of any
product we've ever done. We also have nice touches like putting both 1.3 and
2.0 Workbenches on it and an autoconfiguring script so the first time you use
it it sets itself up to match the Kickstart ROM you have. And at $399 w/ HD,
yes, it is a steal. I have yet to meet / talk to a dissatisfied A530 user.

pick one up.
Hey, since you work at GVP, what can you tell me about the DSS8+? I work
in radio and am looking for a decent digitizer that will give me a nice
signal without all the whine.

Hi Mark. Sorry I haven't responded to you sooner – I don't get into this forum
very often.
Regarding the DSS8+ I have no hesitation in saying it's the quietest and most
capable 8 bit sampler for the Amiga. Sure, 16 bits is nice, but DSS8+ just
goes to show that 8 bit sampling can be very impressive if done right.
