We are developing a Windows 3.1 (VB based) application which makes use of
NetBIOS/IPX. In order to show the strengths of NT we wish to demonstrate our
16 bit application on NT (via a Windows 16 bit subsystem). The problem we have
though is that, apparently due to the NT HAL and the architecture of NT
attempting to load ipx (from NT msdos prompt) returns with 'unable to detect
adapter card error'. This is not totally suprising, but is it possible for
16bit apps to make use of the NT netbios provisions? If this is so are there
any complications in calling the NetBIOS API from a 16bit DLL bearing in mind
that NT and 3.1 DLLs differ.
Thanks. Regards Martin (on Preets id)

Martin,
There should not be any problems with 16-bit apps using NetBIOS calls. If
you have specific questions or problems they will be addressed quicker if you
post them in Section 12 of this forum. Also if it appears to be a
compatibility problem then the questions/comments should go into Section
9/SCT of this forum.
Thanks,
