Folks: I have 2.04 software, and want to upgrade (I bought a used A3000, and this is what the original owner had), but I don't know if I should upgrade to 2.1 or 3.0. I know the latest version of 2.x is 2.1, what is the latest ver of 3.x? Is there any reason not to upgrade to 3.x? I have seen many ads in mags for upgrades to 2.1, but I haven't seen anyone advertising upgrades to 3.x — are they available? Thanks in advance for any & all help, –Phil

Philip, The current version of 2.x is 2.1. 3.x is not (yet) available for purchase. 3.0 comes with the 1200 and 4000 and 3.1 is shipped (in Europe) in with the CD32.

Phil, Hi. I see you bought an A3000. Give me some details, please. V. 2.01 is the latest version of the OS for the A3000. I believe that V. 3.0 is only for the A4000 and A1200 with the AGA chip set. I haven't heard anything about its availability for the A500/2000/3000. Dom Fontana –> Sent from NY via AP <–

Dom, a Germany company does make a Kickstart 3.0 board for A500/A2000. It should have been shipping by now but C= is said to have problems delivering the 3.0 ROMs from Taiwan (the spokeman said it was partly due to that burnt-down factory but I doubt that…). So we have to wait and see. I ordered one a few weeks ago from Mainhattan Data near Frankfurt ('Mainhattan' is a nickname of Frankfurt because it lies at the river Main and it is the only city in Germany with a true skyline of skyscrapers, resembling Manhattan). The maker/distributor is: OMEGA Datentechnik Junkerstrasse 2 D-26123 Oldenburg F.R.G Phone: ++49-441/82257 Fax : ++49-441/885408 // Chris coming in from Germany \X/ on AutoPilot 1.06………..

Sorry, forgot the price… They take DM 99.00 which is roughly US$ 60.00. They also offer a kind of adapter which re-locates the Kickstart ROM away from its original socket (via a multi-ribbon cord) so you can use the adaptor with accelerator cards that use the 68000 socket (like the CSA-MMR et al.). this ships for DM 30.00 (about 18 Dollars). They also wanted to have a complete set (with ROMs, Floppies and Docs) out until September which was about DM 200 (I'm not sure about this price though…). I believe it takes the original 2-ROM-Sets (Hi/Lo) as in the A1200. // Chris coming in from Germany \X/ on AutoPilot 1.06………..

Christian, Those 3.0 ROMs, is it a 2 ROM package? (a high and a low one) Here in Holland some company is offering these ROMS. Only for use with the 1200/4000. Costs 25 Dutch guilder per ROM. Do you have more info about 3.0Kickboard? Ernest Otte Cruising on ….. AutoPilot 1.06
