Are there any programs for the Amiga 500 (1MEG) that are similar to or as capable as the PC programs Paradox, Winfax Pro or FaxMaster ?

Lester, I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with those PC programs. —Betty

Lester, >> Are there any programs for the Amiga like .. >> Paradox – not to my knowledge. There are of course a number of data base programs like SuperBase and others. Winfax Pro/FaxMaster – Yes, there is e.g. AmigaFax (AFax), a Shareware program on Fish AmigaLibDisk 619. Manfred <- flying from FRA via Amiga Autopilot 1.06

No Paradox, but we have Superbase… As for FAX, GPFax fits the bill, but you need a Class II Fax modem. Bob Comer — Flying high and fast with my A1200HD'030 on Autopilot! From Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A

Yes you can find similar programs for the Amiga. For Paradox, the only option on the Amiga is Superbase Professional. It has a BASIC type language and a form generator. My experience with this product is restricted to reading reviews of it and, for some reason, receiving buglists for the IBM version of Superbase. As far as I am aware, you will not be able to read Paradox files with Superbase as Borland have not released details of the file format to anyone. All of the reviews I have read say Superbase Pro is the best thing since sliced bread – although I don't have much faith in Amiga reviews for business products as they seem to accept quality less than IBM reviews. For fax software, there is a program written by somebody in Australia that handles class I & II faxmodems. I have not heard of it handling Intel's CAS Standard. I don't have the details on me now, so I will have to go through my files at home and post it to you in a few days.

Superbase Pro is a very solid product. The biggest problem it has (IMHO) is that it is not fast off the disk; i.e. it has inefficient file structures. However, if your apps are speed-critical it doesn't take much to write your programs so as to minimize disk access. Bob
