What am I doing wrong?
I installed MagicWB (automatic installation) and NickPrefs as per doc file
instructions and it sure looks GREAT! :v)) – but WBPicture (namely
Marble_Classic) I can't get to work! :v(( The window comes on okay, I can
select a pattern file, but the only thing I get when clicking 'Test',
'Use' or 'Save' is a short flash of the disk icons on the Workbench screen
and that was that. I then deleted the wb.pat and window.pat files in
env-arc but still to no avail. After having seen the screenshot I'VE GOT
TO HAVE MARBLE!!! (Sob!)
I run an A2000C with Kickstart 37.175 and Workbench 37.67 (= OS 2.04) with
a flicker fixer and MERLIN board respectively – the normal WBPattern is
working with both, WBPicture with none.
Also, I would perhaps like to use MagicWB in 16 color mode (as it said in
the docs 'proportional mode with at least 8 colours' – so it should look
even better with 16 colours?) – which palette should I use then? I've seen
the MARBLE_Classic picture in the 2.0-Patterns directory uses 4 bitplanes
(= 16 colours) but the MagicWB icons look just plain awful when I switch
WB Screen mode to 16 colours… :v(

The icons and patterns were created with two different palettes. I called
up the file "PIC" (it's the IFF screenshot) into DPaint, cut out a little
from the background, and saved it as a brush. Then I loaded that into
WBPicture and tiled it. It worked for me.

how did you work out the 'fitting ends' of the tiles? What are the
dimensions of your brush? I'll try your method anyway… :v)

I also installed NickPrefs but the silly thing wants me to click on a
requester during boot up for both WBpicture and floppy. How do I make this
autotronic?

Add the DONOTWAIT and QUIET tooltypes to the NickPrefs icon in your
WBStartup drawer.

OK. The requesters don't interupt my startup sequence but I do get my
WorkBench cluttered with a mass of all the related windows (3). Isn't
there a way to suppress these? Kinda like run NIL:>?

Don't these windows close after the startup sequence has run?
Chris,
Load one of the marble patterns in the spare page, and the PIC in the
main. Pick up part of the background on the PIC and paste it so it's the
same size with what's on the spare. Then pick up that and save it as a
brush.

I ran into two seperate problems with the tiling. The first was of my
own making in that I still had an active wbpattern in my envarc:sys/
drawer. As soon as I killed that file, I started seeing a small tile in
the center of my screen. I hadn't noticed that I needed to select "Tile
Picture" in WBPicture. See if either of these help.

icons and nothing else…

Have you installed NickPrefs fully? (It's with the MagicWB distribution).
You need to add nickprefs to your startup-sequence after the iprefs command.
I have MagicWB running with NickPrefs. I have a lot of Amiga users pass through
my home office and they all love it. My Amiga looks like a whole new machine on
screen!
