I am considering taking advantage of the recent competive upgrade offer for FC II that I received in the mail. However, I have a few questions: How good is the output on a DeskJet 500? I have seen PageStream's output on a DJ (excellent); is FC's comparable? Will Compugraphic fonts work only with 2.1+, not 2.04? Why? To use Postscript fonts, do I need Amiga screen fonts that match the Postscript fonts? Can FC import ProWrite files? What's performance like on an unaccelerated A2000HD? Thanks for your help. -Mike

I have a DeskJet 500 that I use with Final Copy 2. I am VERY happy with the output quality. I can't answer any of your other questions, however. -J

Yes, Final Copy II does beautiful DeskJet 500 output. Just 2 minutes ago, I finished a business proposal; I preferred using Final Copy to using WP Windows on my '486. Easy call. Compugraphic fonts? I don't know about 2.1 vs 2.04 I would think there would be no problem, but CBM did change the font manager program (from Fountain to Intellifont), and maybe that's a difference. I've only used 2.1+ with it. I don't believe FC will import any non-ASCII files. I haven't used it, although I just went in and checked, and there was no obvious way to import files. Maybe it automagically knows? Final Copy will generate the Postscript fonts both onscreen and on printer, pretty decent quality, depending on your font source. I'd expect performance to be okay on an A2000HD, except probably printing time. My A3000 usually is just a tad slower than the DeskJet 500. As usual, operating on AutoPilot, Richard Cunningham

MS> To use Postcript fonts, do I need Amiga screen fonts that match the MS> Postscript fonts? No. Final Copy II will display Adobe Type 1 fonts on screen. MS> Can FC import ProWrite files? If you look in the FinalCopy_II/FCLibs directory you will find (Amongst other things): – fcpenpal.library – fcprowrite.library – fcwordperfect.library So I would say yes it can. I know that it imports wordperfect v4.something files. This ability to import is not mentioned in the manual though (I found out by accident!). MS> What's performance like on an unaccelerated A2000HD? Depends on what your doing! Typing should be ok. Screen scrolling will be slow if you have any graphics. Let me put it this way – It is useable.
