Question to you elite out there with Pentium machines. Which would be faster to complete rendering a large project, 2-486DX2-66's, or 1-Pentium PC. I am going to be renting some machines to finish a project and am faced with this question. For the configuration I need the cost will be the same for either setup. Thank you in advance. Andrew, I vote for 1 pentium which should be faster than 2 dx2/66's, according to Ana Francisca Gervas.

Yeah, according the numbers, you'll need a FEW 486/50DX2 machines to win the race. (I personally will prefer 4 networked pentiums running 3dsr3 <g>) But probably three 66s will win the race to the 60MHz pentium … but you have to take the same amount of RAM of one pentium system x 3. Not a very good business 🙂 Also network costs. Ana

Ana, yeah, buying lots of systems is not such a good thing. The motherboard is just the start of the costs and RAM is very expensive. I'd go for 2 Pentiums: 1 for rendering and 1 for modeling.
