#MagicWB help
4 messages in this thread
After unarcing the MagicWB.lzh file I used the "unpack MagicWB" icon,
it unpacked but left out some directories and files. I therefore
unpacked the MagicWB.lha file from the cli. Then I used the install
icon and it left out the WBpattern.prefs file. I manually copied it.
I get the icons but don't get the marble_classic pattern to show.
When I try the WBpattern icon from the prefs, it does not present the
marble pattern as a choice. Also if I use 16 colors the icons looked
lousy. At 8 colors they are fine. Any comments or suggestions you
may have, I would greatly appreciate.
Robert,
You have to use NickPrefs (included with MagicWB) to load the
Marble_Classic pattern. Read the included NickPrefs docs for how to
install NickPrefs. Then you load the Marble-Classic pattern through the
supplied WBPicture icon that comes with NickPrefs.
I never tried the new icons with 16 colors; only with 8 colors. Either
use 8 colors or if you use 16 colors, make sure the correct 8 colors from
the MagicWB palette are properly mapped for use with the icons.
Good luck.

Thanks, Dom, I finally got it right. One thing though, is there anyway to
get the marble_classic pattern in the other windows beside the workbench?

Robert,
No. As far as I am aware there is no way to use any of the patterns,
converted or not, as a window pattern. They only work (under 2.x) as
WorkBench patterns through Nick Prefs. That's one of the suggestions I'm
going to send the author.
