Hi ALL:
I am looking at buying a new system, and have a question I hope someone
will clear up for me. What is the difference between the 1942 and 1960 monitor
?

The 1960 is discontinued and the 1942 is taking it's place. The 1942
has few improvements: the color of the case is more white than the
beige of the 1960; Stereo speakers have been added (the 1960 had
none); More screen positioning features have been added to the front
control pannel. The actual picture tube is the same (to my
knowledge), and it still handles all the same Amiga frequencies like
the 1960. One note: if you're going to use the new 1942 on an A1200,
make sure to get the updated 'Monitors' driver disk from your dealer.
I've heard that without it the screen can't be properly centered.
(For some odd reason it works fine on an A4000 without the update
disk…)

Actually, the 1942 does not handle the Super72 (24kHz) modes, just the
15kHz (NTSC, PAL, Euro36) and 30kHz (DblNTSC, DblPAL, Euro72, Multiscan)
modes. Whether this will change, I've no idea.

The 1960 monitor has NO sound.
The 1942 monitor has built-in stereo amp. & left and right speakers.
Both are multi-sync and have removable swivel-tilt bases.
