I have an Emplant on order and am also hopeless with electronics I was told that life is much easier if you attach a Syquest, formatted as a Mac, to your Parallel port and use it as your Mac partition. I don't know if it is true though.

You cannot attach a Syquest to your Parallel port that I know of. I have a Syquest and have accessed it from the Emplant through the SCSI port. Anyway, that doesn't do me much good. I need to use lo-density Mac disks, thus my need for an interface.

Syquest does sell an adapter which seems to do just that. I am not sure but suspect it may include only MSDOS specific drivers though. It is one way to beat the PC/SCSI headaches.

IF you ordered Emplant with a scsi port all you have to do is buy a MAC HD and plug it in. LaCie is having a close out sale. I just got a 170meg external HD for $249. It comes formatted with system 7.01 installed and they have put 30 megs of PD software on it for you. Just plug it in and away you go! You can't read a mac formatted HD through the Amiga parallel port.
