#hpgl.plt to dwg??
5 messages in this thread
Hi Chuck,
Say I was wondering if there's a way to import .plt files into r12, or
converting .plt to dwg?
DJ
Deanna – your question actually belongs on the Autodesk AutoCAD Forum (GO
ACAD). That's the place where AutoCAD is supported. This is the Autodesk
Software Forum (GO ASOFT) and is the place where the multimedia programs like
Animator Pro and 3D Studio are supported.
But a quick answer… if your PLT files are in HPGL or DMPL format, there is a
utility program in Lib 10 "Utilities" called PlotManager that will convert
them to DXF which you can then bring into AutoCAD. Look for a file called
PLOTM.EXE–and again, GO ACAD!

Thanks very much Dave. By the way, I'ver heard alot about 3d Studio and it
sounds interesting, who can tell me more about revision prices (>> r2<<) and
training facilities.

Deanna – can't tell you much about 3D Studio except that it's sold
through a network of Autodesk Multimedia dealers. There are a few
dealers here on the forum–Kevin Krell, Chuck Mies and Evan Yares to
name 3–that you could ask. Sorry, you'll have to look up their
Compuserve addresses.

Deanna,
Download PLTMGR.ZIP from the ACAD forum. Unzip it to get PlotManager by John
Intorcio. This program will convert an HPGL .PLT file to a .DXF file, which can
then be imported into AutoCAD. Bear in mind that this dxf file will be composed
of nothing but dumb line segments, and you will probably have to scale it to
match the original drawing size.
