Rumor has it (on the local bbs's) that the new Listerine commercials where rendered with Amigas, namely Caligary 24. Does anyone know if this is true? These are some awesome commercials! Any other current commercials being made with Amiga? …Steve ====>>> Motorola 68030 Inside <<<====

Listerine commercials are not Amiga generated. They are either Pixar or Wavefront (I can't remember which) JG

I heard a rumor that the entire "I Love Lucy" series was done on tube-based Honeywell computers and output to 4×5 sheet film an a per frame basis then the 4×5 transparencies were scanned (a tube scanner) by hand in Guatemala where artists then copied the pictures one-by-one (no tube helped here) where they were compiled into a really big phone book like library and then finally someone with a lot of manual dexterity flipped through the pages on live TV every time the series aired. Is there any truth to this?

That is absolutely true. Although it wasn't Guatamala, it was Hong Kong. JG

Ok I'm jumping into this one kinda late, I don't have the original message, I can see that the message was about TV commercials…. and I notice you mentioning Hong Kong…. maybe I can help clear it up for you… after all I live there 😉 Tim On AutoPilot Over Hong Kong

Greetings, "I love Lucy" was processed in Hong Kong ? Bang zoom to the MOON ! Tim you said you live in Hong Kong. Me too. It's hard to find Amiga Users in Hong Kong. I have been working here in Hong Kong for almost a year. Do you know of other Amiga Users in H.K. ? Best Regards, Sze C

Hello ! You have a had time finding them ! I know what you feel like but have I got good news for you 🙂 By the way folks the normal way of finding Amiga users in Hong Kong is to see who's reading the Amiga Magazines at the newstand 😉 Anyway as I was saying, call the following number 6512194 – this is the number for the Amiga Zone BBS, it is a seven line DLG board, run by a good friend of mine Sean Clarke. It is a Pay BBS, but is only $300 Hong Kong per year. But it is worth every Penny, we have some great Teleconference sessions, he has about 40 online games, and carries alot of the local Echo's. And yes there is quite a few Amiga Users on there, about 40 or so. I'll no doubt be seeing you on the board in the near future (by the way although it's a Pay BBS you can still have a good look round, it's mainly your time that is restricted).

The Version of the story I heard had Gautamalen LLama's doing the work. These were the same LLama's later Hired to do the Opening Credit;s of the Holy Grail

Steve, If you are talking about the Jungle Listerine commercials, I believe they were done by (or with) Pixar/Renderman. They have that Renderman look all over them. //Jonathan, \\//via AutoPilot
