I'd like to do a "Mission Impossible" type of fuse effect in an animation. is there an easy way to do this with the particle routines? I can't seem to find a setting that gives me the "scintillating starburst" effect I want. Any ideas would be appreciated, as always.

Spurt would do a good job of making a sparkling fuse. Just make a lot of particles and spread them out over a fairly long period. Moving the spurting object along your fuse path and, if you want to go for even more realistic effects, us an animated opacity map along the fuse (with lofted mapping coordinates) so that the opacity map "burns down" the fuse along with the spurting object moving along it. – G

I was able to create a good effect by using the tornado IPAS that came with 3DS. You just make it small and lay it on its side. You set the tornado for high chaos and play with the speeds. You can also lay another tornado on top of that one but in the reverse direction of spin.
