#3DS R3 ship date?
14 messages in this thread
I heard that 3DS release 3 would be shipping "in a couple of weeks, mid
September at the latest".
Is this true? How can I pre-order. Will we be notified by snail-mail?
Can't wait!!!! From what I saw at the show, it's too good to wait!
Dennis
James Murphy was wrong when he said that. R3 is going to be shipping in early
October.
Registered users will be notified by mail.

Gary;
Ok. 🙁 Too bad, but thanks for letting me know.
I loved your demo at Siggraph. Can't wait to get to use some of those new
features.

This will be a standard Autodesk upgrade, handled through dealers only. The
way it works is to get your number one original disk (the one with the
serial number on it) to an authorized dealer with a check for $497 plus tax.
The dealer then sends the disks to Autodesk, who then sends the Release 3's
to the dealer to get to you.
We always get our clients to send us their disks well in advance of the ship
date, so that we get them to Autodesk by FedEx the day they announce that
they will accept orders for upgrades. I assume other dealers do this also.
We always have a stack in immediately, and are always among the first to get
the upgrades. (Being an Autodesk dealer for almost 10 years helped us to
learn all the ropes!)
Please look to your local dealers first, but if anyone on ASOFT is looking
for a quick upgrade including super support at no extra charge, we'd be
happy to help out! Get those disks in!

Greg;
Until I got on CI$, I didn't hear of upgrades until they had been shipping for
a while. I will ask my local dealer about it, and if they know nothing, I may
deal through your company.
Thanks for the tips.

Greg,
I don't have a "local" dealer (the closest dealer is about 500 miles away —
he's been okay but is NEVER in the loop of what's going on — I had
to tell him about release 2.01 and 1.3 of AAPro) and you've been helpful
here (and I'm hoping I get those Tips and Tricks books soon!) and I
appreciate your attitude about getting there first and fast in line, but…
(isn't there always a "but") Do I just send you my first disk and a check
now? Don't you want me to call first, send a fax, or just have some
kind of cover letter with everything? If I send you a check, are
you going to cash it in advance of shipping? What about credit
cards? Can you wait until ship date before you charge them?
I know, he asks a lot of questions for someone from Nevada, but
we're lonely here!

Well, assuming that you were going to give me your address with the disk,
that's all I need to get started in advance for the Release 3 upgrade!
You could give us a Master Card or VISA number or a check, either of which
will not get used or cashed until we ship the software to you!

Dissatisfied? Just return the unused portion of our product, and we'll return
the unused portion of your money. <BG>

I like it! I'll have to use that one!
While we're off the subject:
Q) What's the difference between "Jurassic Park" and Microsoft?
A) One is a high-tech theme park dominated by expensive, nasty, hungry,
predatory monsters that will destroy anything they can get their teeth
into; the other is a movie.
Greg Pyros
Oh, I HAVE to send you the Berkeley Breathed cartoons about "Bill the Gates".
Remember I mentioned these when I called you my "love monkey"? Watch your fax
machine.

Good One Greg!!!
False alarm! I think James Murphy posted that during an extreme bout of sleep
deprivation. October is still the date as far as I've heard.

John;
I guess I was just hopeful.
Dennis
Dennis,
I was running on empty. The dealer copies may get out by mid september but the
actual ship date is in October. "Sorry I misspoke myself".
I've been waiting years to use that phrase. <g>
10 points to anyone who can identify the movie that was 1st used in!
