The original Asteroids re-creation for the Amiga is a real killer.

I've heard that from a lot of people. Its shareware, isn't it? BTW –
I don't know how many Amiga Wing Commanders there are out there, but
the game plays GREAT! (even without 256 colors!) I only hope & pray
that Origin continues to develop for the Amiga… didi I see
somewhere that they decided not to?
The Amiga Wing Commander plays great? Your kidding right?
-HELMET
On a 4000 it does. ;-}
In response to ALL these:
Yes, it plays great. No, I don't find it slow at all. YES, I'm using a
4000/030. YES, I've played the same game on IBM. No, I don't see any
significant speed diff. between the two version.
Maybe if I load it up on my 500 I'd agree with you guys, but I really don't see
the problems on the 4000.
Now then! Does anyone know whether or not this is the last of the WC games for
the Amiga?? (or the last of any Origin games, for that matter)

Wing Commander is horridly slow on even a stock A1200! The PC version is
quick on PC's and TOO fast on anything greater than a 386/33. If you enjoy WC
on your
A4000/030 then that's fine and it's fast on my A1200–030/50mhz but it's
dithered to death(16 colors!!!! ugh) and just not playable enough. An Amiga
with chunky pixel mode would definitely help this game a lot.

Helmet-
OK… no argument on the chunky pixel mode. Still, there aren't too many
alternatives avail for the Big A (or are there? I'd appreciate the tip!). I got
the 'Space Legends' pack, so I now have Elite (which I still love & play all
the time). Other than that, however, I'm sorta at a loss.
BTW – Is there still going to be an Elite II? I read a preview of it in one of
the Briish mags that said it would have something like 10 million planets! (on
TWO disks!!!)
BTW2 – What other games do you want to talk about?! I dont get to talk to too
many other Amiga users, ya know!
–MR
Ah that Elite II.. yah i read about that too. Dunno HOW they packed all the
data onto 2 floppies. Amazing.

Helmet = Tom?
I found that old magazine w/ the review … it was 5/93 issue of Amiga Power.
The game is supposed to be called Frontier & have 100 million planets. It was
supposed to ship in June… Anyone know if it did????
** – Space stations are 10 times bigger (approx)
** – Everything (ships, etc) is named
I want it….
-MR
Ok Frontier. thanx for reminding me. Will have to buzz Sideline to see if it
ever came out.. i don't think it has or there woulda been some write up in one
of the euro mags.
btw yes Helmet = Tom <G>

RUMOR has it that about 5000-10000 units have been dropped into Europe (CD32,
that is) and the response was fantastically good. Word is this product leaves
3DO in the dust. I sure hope it's true. I'd love for CBM to be a solid
money-making organization. It would sure help the Amiga community. New chip
set development costs big $$$.
Kind of jumping into this half cocked but: you are discussing the game
called Frontier that evolved from Elite, right? There was a small layout
on the as yet unreleased Frontier with screen shots (taken at David
Barben's house where it currently lives) in the may 93 issue of Amiga
Format magazine. I was under the impression Konami was the publisher who
would bring it out however.??
I don't care if the columbian drug cartel publishes it, I WANT IT! The
last word I heard was it should be this month. I believe anything.

AGA means "Amiga is Going Again"

You kill me !!! It's even SLOOOOOWWWWW on a A2000/030 40MHz.
Aye, it may be slow on a A2000/030, but how is it on an AGA machine?
I bet it's decent!
Ernest-
I don't know if you saw my message to Helmet, but I'm using a 4000/030. I've
never seen it on anything slower, but it seems fast enough on the 4000.
