#A4000 SCSI HELP!

I have an A4000 (Correct chipset) and am trying to decide on a SCSI interface
board for it… I don't specifically "Need" SCSI II support, what I need is a
board $300 or thereabouts that will work with the A4000 & get the job done.
I have heard a that the A4091 has a number of problems, but someone
somewhere mentioned that it "takes over" the MMU. This would be bad. I don't
want to loose the MMU… I have also heard many good things about the Z3
Fastlane board, but I can't swallow the $500+ price tag…
I am looking for any comments or recommendations about either board or
any other board capable of doing the job…
I would appreciate any info, comments or opinions!

GVP's HC8-II+ works great in an A4000, is fast with SCSI-I drives like the
Maxtor 542S, and is around $199.00 or less!

stats on it?

Hmmm, I don't have any stats at hand, I'm not at work right now. I'll get you
some, but I'd also like to mention that GVP has a trade-up program that will
take in other SCSI controllers and upgrade you to an HC8-II for a very
reasonable price. Give Customer Service a call at (215) 337-8770 x340 for more
information.

Does this apply to 500 series controlers too? I need a new controler for
my sons 500, he currently has a trumpcard.

have heard IVS Trumpcard Pro works fine in A4000, but haven't tried it nore
spec'd it on any drives yet. Will probably do so in next couple weeks.

I don't know how well it works with the A4000, but CBM's A2091 controller
is going for about $60 NEW now, if you can get it.
Its "disadvantage" is that you can only put 2 megs of 16-bit RAM on it,
but if it's goind in a 4000 (or a 3000), why would anyone be putting ANY
16-bit RAM on it???
