To all who gave Greg your names:
Some of you may be wondering to yourself ..'where is the issue of the 3rd
Dimension which was availabe at SIGGRAPH?' … WELL … as you know, Greg & I
had those of you who were west of the Mississippi, give your names to Greg
.. East to me …. WELL … a problem occured with Greg's database and as hard
as we've tried, we can't recover the names that he collected … SO
…if you gave your name to Greg for the 3rd Dimension, please send it to me
in the next couple days (by Thursday night). Monday next week, I will take the
newsletter to the mail house.
Those of you who paid already, I have your info.
Those of you who gave me your name, I've got it.
This will not be a problem in the future since this issue contains a
subscription form and a unified database will be formed by the subscriptions.
Both Greg, Evan, Frank & I appologize very much for the inconvienence and delay
you have experienced. Thanks for stick'n with us and being so patient.
Ang
Okay, I'll bite — to those of us who WEREN'T there at Siggraph,
what exactly is the 3rd Dimension? Is this an absolutely necessary
newsletter that us 3D owners need to have? Is it chock full of
useful tips and tricks? Am I giving you a good enough opening
for plugging it?
Seriously, I'd be interested in anything that provides more information
on the program we love. Is a sample issue available, or do we
need to order on faith?
Mike,
>> What is 3rd Dimension
Greg Pyros and myself started a group of "serious" 3DS dealers across the
country called "Group Montage". One of the 1st visable manifestations of this
new group was the development of the newsletter "3rd Dinension". The 1st issue
was sent to many on CIS (it was very small). Since the 1st issue, we added
Evan Yares, Design Automation Services and Frank Zuccaro, AeroData to the Group
and the 2nd edition of the newsletter has been ready to ship since SIGGRAPH.
All 4 of us contribute to the writting and it contains sections like: What's
News, New Products and Updates, The Ins and Outs, Tips and Tricks, etc..
When Greg and I first took the names from CIS, we told people on the west half
of the country to give Greg thier names, and me on the East. Well… Greg had
a database blow-up in his face and ALL of the Westerners who gave Greg their
names are in Limbo.
So, if you would like to recieve the next issue, just leave me your name and
address here on the forum to me.
If you think you gavee Greg your name, please re-send it to me.
Thanks,
Ang
Ang,
Please add me to the supscription list. Thanks in advance.

Ang,
Since I sent you my details, I've not received/heard anything
about our mag subscription – what's the current status?
Thanks,

BITS
BITS,
>> what's the status
We'll, Greg had a database "blow-up" and we delayed shipping to try to fix it,
now we've delayed one last time to try to recover names that were sent to him
(all of those who sent you names to Greg and in Limbo-land now). If you sent
your name to Greg, please send me a message containing your info.
Ang

Hi Angelo,
The 3rd Dimension sounds great! Could you please put me down on your list to
receive a copy:
Phil Shatz

I'm actually based in London, but my mail is forwarded from the above
address. I'd like to send you a copy of my book Walkthroughs & Flyby CD from
Waite Group Press for review and mention in your newsletter. Should I send
that to Pyros Partnership or to you?
Phil:

I've been waiting for it to come out! Congrats on shipping!
I'd be happy to review it in the newsletter.

Greg,

Hea .. don't Bogart that book when you get it … pass it along eh!?

Not a problem, I'll just commit it to memory and send it to ya!

' Hope that's not the same memory your 3RD Dimension database went to <g,d&r>.

Low blow! Low blow! Where's that CI$ referee? <g>
Greg Pyros
John,
>> hope that's not the same memory your 3RD Dimension database went to
Ouch! that was a direct hit t'midship.
Ang
Ang and Greg,
>> Ouch! that was a direct hit t'midship.
I apologize; I didn't realize it was such a raw nerve … it _really was_ meant
in good fun. We had a hard disk go out the night before a 3DS seminar we were
giving, literally 5 minutes after the office manager said "what if the H.D.
were to crash?", so we're not immune either. Fortunately, we had 90% of it
backed up, but what a nightmare. Again; I'm sorry; I didn't mean to offend.
John
John,
>>I'm sorry; I didn't mean to offend.
My comments were more of a compliment rather than anything else … it was a
good one. Greg's a big boy .. he can take it and anyway by the <G> after both
of our responses you can infer that it was taken by all in good fun.
Ang
Hey dude, waiting to see that book. I'm sitting in a place that would seem
familiar to you, been here for a few months and also (finally!) seeing that big
place on the other side of the channel, that one called Europe.
So where's the book? <g>

I would like to take a look, too,

Angelo, I would very much like to be included on your mailing list for 3rd
Dimension. I feel very strongly that Autodesk's dealer program is one of their
weakest links, so it has been refreshing to chat with respectible dealers like
yourself and Mr. Pyros in this forum.
Dan O'Leary 837 Turnbull Avenue Altamonte Springs, FL 32701
thanks again… Dan
p.s. – I live outside Orlando, which seems to have a very bad rep for 3ds
dealers. sour grapes.
Dan,
>> frusstrated with dealers
Well that's why we formed the group. You also may want to download the file
DEALER.LST of this forum (not sure which Lib#). It is a compilation of dealers
who are active on the forum who have indicated they are willing to take
"orphan" 3DS customers and _offer_ them support. At least you could use one of
them for your r3 update. All of the Group dealers are listed as well as
others.
It's my opinion that just thru their activity on the forum, they are
demonstrating a certain level of seriousness to the products and to thier
effective support.
Hope that helps…
Ang
I will certainly take a look at DEALER.LST… but I would have to give the r3
upgrade to you or Greg P. Definitely the kind of proactive dealers that I would
prefer to deal with. Since you are on the east coast…. charge sales tax for a
Florida sale?!

You can also try 3D Artist magazine, which always has at least two or three
pieces on 3DS, and usually a 3DS Tips article. Order from

There is a subscription price, don't have it handy but it's low.

Howdy, Rick. Sorry I haven't contacted you sooner, but I moved and am under
deadline at work. Did you get the Orlando SIGGRAPH article I emailed you? Some
folks from MetroLink, Inc (also in Ft. Lauderdale / Pompano Bch) were in
attendance at our last meeting… they were checking us out and are planning to
establish their own chapter in your neck of the woods. I told them about your
3ds group and they are interested in talking to you. Garry Paxinos gave me his
card… 970-7353 or pax@metrolink.com if you are on the net.
Still working on getting you a packet, including last year's VideoGanza, this
year's SIGGRAPH Electronic Theatre tape, and much, much more.
let me know how I can help Dan
ps – If you did not recieve the article, I can resend it.
Dan,
I got it & forgot I had it. Will get info into next newsletter.
Rick
Dan,
I would be happy to join a siggraph down hear.

Angelo,
I was never on the list in the first place, but I'd like to subscribe as well.
