#PC to MAC conversions

HELP !
Does anyone konw of a good way (reliable) to get PC generated TGA's into a MAC
for dumping to tape via a diaquest board. I have tried linking my tahiti 1
drive via Access PC but have had proplems with corrupted files ( about 1 in 10
). Could the tahiti be the weak link ? or is it Access PC and is there a
better way to do this (I HOPE !)

I always use a SyQest harddisk to copy my TARGA (still)images to a MAC, because
my computer's are in my office and the MAC of my clients are in there offices.
works without any problems. I think it's a good and easy way for ONE animation
job. If you must always do this the best way would be a heterogene network.

Thanks for your reply. I have thought about the syquest but would like some
particulars (can you just plug a pc formatted syquest cart into a mac syquest
drive, do you need to use something like access pc). could you give me more
details on how exactly you approach this and how successful it is.

I use to diffrent methods to transfer TGAs to the Mac; 1) Via a 90MByte
Bernoulli drive (this method should work for Syquest
drives as well. The key is to use "DOS mounter". This is a Mac
extension that allows you to just insert PC floppies or other
removable media into a Mac drive and have them come up on the desktop
just like Mac media. We have used it for a long time and have found
that it is very reliable. I'm not at the office now so I don't have
a phone number/address for you but it is widely available and quite
inexpensive. 2) We use Farrallon's Timbuktu for Window's. This product
includes a
LocalTalk card for the PC and it allows you to mount any Mac drive
or folder that has been "shared" under System 7.x as another drive
on your PC. Quite a clever product really but a more expensive
solution to your problem if all you want to do is transfer files. We
bought it mostly for the ability to share output devices on the
LocalTalk network with PCs.
