help with animation?

Hi, I am new here and have what is probably a very basic question concerning the usage of Animator Pro. I have drawn an image of a man and wish to animate him by rotating the arms and legs, leaning the body forward, etc. I want to be able to rotate at the hips and knees/shoulders and elbows. How do I take this cel and produce other cels that will depict the animation with Ani? Can I "cut" an arm and then use the Optics section to define the angles of rotation and create several more cels that I can paste back on the "trunk" of the figure? This seems logical. 🙂 Anyone care to give me a step by step outline? Thanks, Steve

Before giving you a step-by-step outline, let's simplify and talk about creating a profile view of man leaning forward (joint at the hip), while his arm is swinging at the shoulder. AniPro doesn't have the capability to keep 2 entities connected. You keep adding to what you've already rendered, and you specify a path so that what you are adding is positioned at the right place in every frame. So, you should try to add cels in a sequence that makes the paths as simple as possibly. In fact, try to add cels to objects that are not yet moving. E.g., don't add a cel of an arm rotating at the shoulder, to a body that is already rotating at the hip. Instead, wait to add motion about the hip until the arm is in place. The steps could be: 1. Create a cel containing the arm. 2. Create a FLIC with the same image in every screen, namely, the body (hip to shoulder only). 3. Use OPTICS to add the arm rotating about the shoulder. No path is needed. 4. Capture the new FLIC in a CEL. 5. Create a FLIC with the same image in every screen, namely, the leg. 6. Use OPTICS to paste the cel of the body and arms, adding the rotation about the hips that you want. Again, no path is necessary. Enjoy!
