Hello, Does anyone know of a program (preferably shareware) that will take a FLC or FLI file and extract each frame into a graphic file like .TGA or TIF?

Yeah, Use Video Post. Set the number of frames to the correct number Just add the FLC to the Queue (Click on Add, select a position in the queue, select Edit, click on the entry in the queue, change it over to the .FLC file). Select the Render button Select Configure and configure for the desired output. Render. If these directions are confusing, just review the video post info in the tutorials. Maybe experiment a bit and then read these directions again. ACTUALLY, I've found that video post is one of the best converters going – from almost anything to almost anything (for example, you can crunch .TGA files into a .FLC file by listing the .TGA files in a file with the extension .IFL, but that is another story). N. Write if you have trouble…

Thanks for the reply. I don't have the Autodesk Animator software I just have the flc's Do you know if your technique will work with Autodesk 3D Studio?

Hi! I didn't make myself very clear, I'm sorry. This technique will only work with 3D Studio. 3D Studio has a 'function' called Video Post. It is easy to use although kind of confusing for new users. Video Post can be used to do compositing of images, join two flics into one flic, and a bunch of other tricks. It can also be used to convert files from one file type to another. You need to go to the manuals and look up Video Post. Put the .FLC file you want to convert into the Video Post Queue. Select the Render button in the Video Post Dialog Box. Select Configure and select the TGA option. Render. This will take your .FLC file and turn it into a series of .TGA files. This is very quick. N.

Nancy, I just got your book "3D studio Applied" It is very helpful!! I find Video Post in the 3DS3 reference manual , but it is very brief. I was looking for Matt Object that you mentioned in your book, I could not find it. Would you please explain it further? It seems very useful. Which aspects of 3DS are useful for games? Have you seen 7th guest? How do they achieve their results? Thanks. Mei-Tien
