I'm really curious about the announced Keyframe Scripting Language KXP Plug-In. Does anyone out there know if this might allow individuals (like me), with no 'C' programming skills to use it to develop custom animated functions ? In other words, is the language more plain English (with some 3D/Animation functions knowledge), or do you still pretty much have to be an accomplished 'C' programmer & mathematician to use it ? This could be very powerful if it's easy enough to use / pick-up on. BILL

Bill: Gary described the scripting language to be more like BASIC than anything else. He said its not like LISP either, he hates parenthesis. Ease of use/implementation seemed paramount. Bob

So is the answer yes ? <g> Do you know if it uses *_animation-specific / descriptive_* syntax, or is it just similar to traditional BASIC. Hmmm, I haven't even tried to use BASIC in over 10 years – and I never was very good then. An animation-specific language would be very nice though. BILL

Bill: It was described as being 'BASIC-like'. I haven't checked the library file which Brian posted but Andrew covered the info that I have. Looks to me to be what you're after. I'm looking forward to scripting away. Bob

I don't know but it ought to be. It would be silly to come up with a complex Scripting language. For that your have the IPAS tool kit. The reason, as far as I can see, for even suggesting a scripting language, is to be able to put something together quickly without much to worry about. I just hope they don't think Acad's "Lisp" fits that category! <g>

That's how I feel as well, but you never know when it comes to smoething in 3D-Land being "logical" <g>. If it does actually use animation-specific syntax, I'm very excited about it. << I just hope they don't think Acad's "Lisp" fits that category! <g> >> Amen. BILL

The Script Language will be VERY helpful. You will be able to things unimaginable with it! The best part is, it will open 3ds up to collision detection and user defined scripts. It will even be a kind of poor man's ipas. If you are familiar with Lightwave on the amiga, they use a script language called AAREX that user are able to trade scripts with for effects like rain, snow, fireworks, and tons of other stuff. You as a user may not want to be able to "program" one bit, but you'll be able to use scripts that others create and I'm sure they will start appearing on ASOFT in large numbers once everyone gets up to speed on it. You'll love the script language. Trust me. Mark

>> You as a user may not want to be able to "program" one bit… Are you sure you directed that answer to me or was it just a general comment? <g> Who are you?
