#Continued support for C+
5 messages in this thread
Does anyone know the status of SAS's support for the C and C++ compiler?
Will they still be supporting the Amiga, and will support for Templets and
exceptions be available? What is the latest released version?
Actually, the same questions apply for Comeau C++.
Thanks for any help.

SAS has announced that, baring a positive reevaluation after some change
in the Commodore situation, there will be no further development for the
Amiga. They still provide excellent technical support.
Comeau already supports templates (not sure about exceptions, but I think
so). I believe they are planning a new Amiga release soon. Of course,
you need a C compiler to make use of Comeau.
As I said in my SAS 6.50 AmigaWorld review, if you want C++ in a
professional environment, get SAS and Comeau. This probably still holds.

That SAS revelation does not really bode well for future development on the
Amiga now does it…?
SAS/C has become the standard development environment recommended to Amiga
developers in recent times. Does this mean that there will be no further bug
fixes?
Could be an opening for Matt Dillon and friends with the recent release of DICE
the commercial version.

The current version of SAS is pretty solid. I could probably live with it
for C for several years, and Comeau is fine for C++. I don't think it is
a really big deal.
DICE is, of course, an option to consider, especially for those buying a
new compiler.

Thanx for the info on SAS and Comeau. I have both on my system, but would
like to just use SAS. It has a better (not good, just better) inteface
than Comeau. I like using the window interface to compile.
