Sounds like fun. If it's better than WinCIM (or Term, for that matter) then I
think I might give it a go.

one caution. You need to have an Amiga with 2 MB or more of memory,
have a harddisk with 5 MB or so of free space, and be running AmigaDOS
2.04 or better.

No problem, Brian! Right now I'm using an A1200 with a 120MB HD (although it's
filling up rapidly now that I'm using CIS <g>), and I have an A4000/040 with
18MB RAM in the next room. Thanks for the advice, though.

I'm glad that this isn't a problem for you. Unfortunately, in our
enthusiasm concerning AutoPilot, and I'm a definite enthusiast, the
requirements get lost. Take care, and enjoy CIS.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you try AutoPilot. And of
course the nice thing about it is that you download the demo version, and
get it up and running all without having to pay for the program, so that
when you do register the program you'll already know that it works for
you, and if you've tried it much beforehand you'll see how you can quickly
save lots of $$$ over doing everything online!

I was impressed with the demo version, so I registered yesterday and got the
patch today. I spent hours browsing through the file catalogs (it's _already_
saved me lots of money!), and tagged a couple dozen files to download, mostly
small text files. Unfortunately, most of them had errors when I tried to unarc
them — a problem I didn't have using Term. So now I'm downloading the same
stuff with Term, trying to find out if it was AP's fault or the files' fault.
Well, I hope I can get it sorted out so I can resume enjoying AP. (And if you
have any suggestions, by all means let me know! 🙂

All of the files in the libraries have been tested for integrity. If you are
having a problem decompressing them make sure you are using the correct
decompression tools. For LHA and LZH files you want to use LhA which can be
found in Library 16 as LHA138.RUN.
OK, I trust you. 🙂 I did re-download two files using Term and they came out
okay, so ALL those botched files must have been AutoPilot's fault. (There were
over 20 of them — not very good testimony.)
Anyone have a suggestion as to what the cause might have been? (I'm using 8N1
on Term but I am not sure what AP needs.)
No, the botched files were not AP's fault. Something you were or were not
doing was the problem.
Jim, I've been using Autopilot for over a month. I don't want to even
look at my download log, but it's many, many megabytes, and have had nary
a cough.

Please advise me how to get the latest version of AP. Keep reading of
version 1.73 and I using 1.06. Help!!
I also have to say that I have been using AP for almost a year now and
have not had any problems. Even upgraded to a ZOOM 14.4/fax with not a
cough. It even worked when I still can not get logged on a local board.

You get the current version of AutoPilot (1.74) the same place as you got 1.061
… in Library 9 of AmigaVendor Forum — the filename is AP.LHA

Just go to the AmigaVendor forum, LIB 9 (Autopilot). and (re)download the
"AP.LHA" file. When the author releases a new version, he replaces the
olf version of the AP.LHA file.
An install script is included, which can detect the old Autopilot, and
replace it with the new version (and transfer the registation.)
Just make sure you DON'T unpack the AP.lha files over your old Autopilot,
upacke it to either a bank disk or empty directory. Also, make sure the
Autopilot assigns are activte, to speedup the recognition of the old
version.
