I recently bought an A570 for my floppy based A500. This unit runs CDTV titles fine, but When I try to run a Fish disk I get a Guru when I try click on the first Icon (80000003). Am I tied to CDTV titles only? Jim

Jim, I run A570 together with A500+ since several months; everything works fine, except some problems with boot priority of 3 devices: CD0, DF0, DF1. Fish CDs usually have no operating system on them, so you have to load workbench from floppy. But your problem sounds more like corrupted data. Did the error occur when trying to run specific programs from CD or are you not able to open the CDs directory? Eberhard Spittler (using AutoPilot)

Eberhard, My problem is when I try to open the CD's directory. Do you think I've caught a carp? I have a friend who has some of Fred's stuff, I might stop by his house and get one of his disks. When I boot with the 1.3 ROM it will not show the directory icon unless I boot with the disk in the drive. If I boot with the 2.0 ROM, the directory Icon will come up any whenever I put the disk in. Also, when I use a Click-Dos Program I get a requester saying it can't find device o:, although I asked for CD0:. Jim

Jim, I am not an expert neither on operating systems nor on CD file systems. I work with 2.04 and 3.0 AmigaDOS. The symptoms as you describe them look as if the CDs directory is somehow corrupted (I apologize that I cannot be any more specific). When you boot from the CD it should come up with a customized WB screen, IF it has an operating system included. That should work, when all your floppies are removed from their drives. Alternatively, you can can force to boot from CD with the "early startup menu" (warm start and keep both mouse buttons pressed until this menu appears). If you boot from floppy, you should be able to open all directories on the CD by double clicks, until you arrive at something executable. If you get a GURU before, the disk is not OK. JL >>When I try to run a Fish disk I get a Guru when I try click on the first Icon (80000003). Ron, I've tried booting from the Fish Disk without any response at all. I've also tried both 1.3 and 2.0 ROMs to no avail. I might catch another fish and see what kind of luck I have. Good to hear I'm not out in the cold. Jim
