#Seq. bitmaps into flic
10 messages in this thread
Does anyone out there know of a piece of software or a utilty that will
take sequentially numbered (ex: FILE_01.TGA, FILE_02.TGA, …) Graphics files
on a hard disk and turn them into a .FLC or .FLI animation. I am trying to
generate an animation file out of sequential frame grabs from a video source to
be integrated into a 3D-Studio animation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance, — BMB
You can create an .IFL file (image file list) either manually or through DOS.
See pages 3-46 and 3-47 for what this can do for you. If you have a lot of
these files, you can make the IFL with the following DOS command lines (thanks
to John K. Jordan, who sent me this info earlier this year…):
dir MY*.tga /on /b > FORWARD.IFL
dir MY*.tga /o-n /b > REVERSE.IFL
This will make IFL's in either forward or reverse order from your sequentially
numbered TGA files.
Hope this helps you, at least it's free!

Thanks! That will help me out a lot!

DTA, Dave's Targa Animator, written by the incredible Dave Mason, will do
exactly what you need. It should be in the libraries here.

TThanks Mr. Pyros! I am looking forward to your classes at Atlanta's Autodesk
University in October. See you then.
Thanks, Brandon

I'm looking forward to them myself!

Out of curiousity, which one(s) are you going to be doing? Tryin' to
finagle my way to AU (better chance of this than I had for Siggraph,
I hope!).
John:
I'm teaching the classes called:
"How to Output to Video" (Or some such title) and
"How to Create Excellent Animations" (They were really desperate on that one!)
See you there!

>>How to Output to Video…How to Create Excellent Animations
B-b-bbbut I already_do_that! ;^} Oh, well, I_guess_ I'll show up
anyway! (assuming, of course, the high muck-a-mucks here don't shoot
me down)

I don't think it's_that_much of a stretch :^).
