#gpfax printing

Dementia is not a pretty sight. I have a feeling, now, that we've had this
conversation before about printer drivers for the HP 4 MP. You had mentioned
that <any old HP laserjet driver> would do, to run my 4 mp non postscript.
What I realized after loading the laser jet printer driver on my hardrive is
that I ran into the same problem. It just doesn't work with GPFax. After much
churning, chugging, etc., all that's ejected from my 4MP is a blank page. The
desk jet driver results in a printed page.
Who knows what the problem is. As long as the ink jet driver works, and I can
use PS drivers for my wordprocessing and desk top processing, I guess I
shouldn't complain.
Thanks
Pat
With older HPs, there wasn't enough memory for a full page of graphics.
With a 4MP, no problem. That the desk jet driver works seems more than a
little odd!!!

I have a feeling that we've had this same discussion before. My guess is that
my problem is a combination of my running the original operating system (tried
upgrading too late–none to be found when I checked in April), and maybe just
my particular configuration of hard drive and memory expansion. All I know is
that it doesn't work, and hasn't worked despite several people's good
suggestions.
The good part is that on the rare ocassions that I do need to use a
non-postscript driver, the inkjet driver works (slowly, albeit, with GPFax).
So, if I have 3 or 4 pages of fax to print out (when it happens, it's usually
at dinner time, after work), I just eat dinner while it chugs. Fortunately, I
don't get many faxes–just a small number once a quarter.
Thanks again–
Pat
Pat,
Can you get a graphic dump of the WorkBench screen? IF so, you should be
able to get a good print from GPFax. Really sounds like a Preferences
setup problem.
Use the driver (HPLJ4.lzh) from the printer driver library. It does work
with GPFax and HP LJ 4M, so should work just as well on the 4MP.

See my message to Dale. I know that you and I have corresponded. You're the
one who developed the driver for the hp4, right? Gracia Littauer sent me email
with your settings–I tried them, and still it didn't work. But, I can get it
to print, so I'm not going to spend more time on it (since I still have a
newsletter to get out– thankfully in postscript, that's now 2 months overdue
as a result of modem problems that are now fixed).
There is always something to keep us entertained, eh?
Take care–
