Can I get some opinions on the best flat bed scanner and software for OCR
please. Currently in Australia it seems to be between the Epson GT6500
and the Migraph MS1200.

I would rather recommend getting the HP because the HP is MUCH
faster and better. I must admit that the current software on the Amiga is
better for the Epson. However, on PC's, HP does offer the better software.

BTW I note that you wrote the print manager for Digita used by Wordworth3.
Following your earlier comment in response to my query I now have a Canon
BJC600. I have driven the BJC using the Print Manager, very well using
the Epson48 pin driver as set, (and it is the best thing to drive the
Epson550 we use for draft work) and your BJ-EC driver.
Any comments on the best option? I also use PPage4.1 but haven't yet
experimented much with colour settings; not enough time<g>

There is not much to tell. Use the CanonBJ-EC driver and if you print
graphics, use the CanonBJC 600 mode in CanonPref. I personaly use the
Coat/Normal/HQ mode in order to avoid a “mask'' layed over the output by
the printer — even if I don't print to coated paper…
A new version of the BJ-EC driver should show up in September offering a
better user interface and faster printing. As usual, the latest Canon
drivers will be made available in this CIS forum.
