I have a 1600 frame flic in 3 pieces that I need to join together in a fairly speedy manner. I tried using video post, but the time it was taking to do each frame was getting longer and longer. Around frame 300 it was almost at 30 secs per frame, and it didn't even take that long to render some of them in the first place. Is there a quick and dirty program out there that I missed that will join flics together I can download? Many thanks to all.

Tim, FLICJ.EXE in the Utilities library section should work. Mark Yankee

If you have Animator Pro, you could join two flics. Just be careful about different pallette's. If the pallette's are different, you'll need to combine them so that there is no flashing between the flics. Jeremy Hubbell [Adesk]

I thought about that, (joining flics in Anipro), but the whole flic is 300 megs in size, and a bear to work with in anipro. Took 10-15 min. just to load up. Is there any switch or setting in Anipro to have it not load things into ram? I looked in the manual and couldn't find anything.

I don't recall any such setting. However, Animator Pro will analyze the flic and determine if it cannot load it into ram fully, so this shouldn't be a problem. The problem with the loading time is something you can't avoid either in Animator Pro or 3D Studio if you don't have enough RAM. If you're using 3DS and the joining is taking more than a couple of seconds, make sure 3DS is not doing any extra legwork like resizing or any other "out of the ordinary" operation when just joining flics. The two flics should be the same size. By the way, anything over 640×480 will kill just about any computer, so reduce the flic resolution whenever possible. Jeremy

There's a command line flic joining utility that we wrote here in the libs somewhere that will join any two flics (it only buffers a frame or two). ->Jeff

Found it two minutes after I posted that message. Don't know how the heck I missed it before.
