#0.5 GB w/ PAR?

Greg, I use the PAR unit with the small hard drive. In most cases it works just
fine but I would suggest that when you finish with an animation, save it to
your tape drive (if you have one) and optimize it often. Other than that, it
does the job for me. Chuck Rogers (Reel Images)
Chuck,
Glad to hear from someone who actually uses the .5 GB HD. Saving to tape drive
and optimizing often shouldn't be a problem. Key question: how much continuous
playback time can you squeeze out of that HD without compromising quality?

Greg >> How much continuous playback time can you squeeze out of that HD
without compromising quality? >> That's a good question. I'm not sure! The
anim's that I make are about 500 to 800 frames apiece. Some of them are joined
together after I created them in 3D Studio. I have run several of them, one
after another, to video tape and have had no real problems; of cource once I
figured out how to set up the PAR unit in the 3D Studio enviroment. FWIW the
drive I am using is a Seagate 3655A and I do try to run on the fastest part of
the drive ALWAYS! Let me know what you deside. Chuck
Greg Chuck again. I'm sorry, I didn't answer your question fully. The people
at Pyros Partnership and the Digital Processing Systems Inc. indicate that the
.5 GB HD should do 3 to 5 minutes just fine. I'm sure it depends on what type
and size files the PAR unit is receiving. Chuck

But what do they know???? <bg>
