Sysop How do I access files like the ugroup.txt in the library #14? I've been
in some of the other forums and had something interesting happen, someone
wanted to chat while I was accessing information. How do I reply back when
this happens in the future?
Chuck
Chuck,
The files in the libraries have to be copied to your machine over the CIS
network. This is called downloading and the command to start it is DOW at the
file disposition ! prompt.
When someone pages you on the forum they are doing a SEN(d) and that is the
command to use. Their message comes over as being from a Job # (this number
also appears on the UST log file too. To use the SENd command just type SEN
<job_number> <message…>.
We can give you exact destructions for your specific comm program, if you will
tell us what it is.
BitCom for Windows
OK Chuck,
You're using the Command or ASCII interface, rather than the HMI interface.
Just use the commands I gave you (DOW) to download files and (SEN) to chat with
another forum member real time.
To activate the reception of the download files in your machine, you probably
will use the PAGE DOWN key to put the program into protocol transfer mode.
Check the docs on your comm program. Also check to see if BITCOM supports CIS
B+ and if it does, use this as your main transfer protocol. It was written by
and for CompuServe and is the best of the three (CIS B, QuickB and CIS B+)
Joe What is an HMI interface? Chuck
