#refelection map position

I'm having a problem with flat reflection maps that I've had before but in my current pordject is more pronounced and begging of a solution. Ive create a material with a "flat" reflection map and assigned it to just the face of the faces of the part of interest (a circut board). when I render the part. the reflection appears to be about an 1/8" inch under the objects which should be reflected rather than right up against them. Its as if the reflecting surface is about an 1/8" below the actual reflecting surface. Any thought on why an how it can be remidied would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Peter Kroko

Do all of the mirror material faces define just one plane? It sounds like one of your faces is higher than the rest, the Renderer is finding it first, and defining the reflection about that plane. – Phil

Phil, You may have put your finger on it. the surface(s) are as flat as can be however, I have the material asigned to both sides of the board (a circut board.) Maybe what Ill try is assigning the material to one side and mirroring the part so my material appears to be on both sides. Thanks Peter Kroko

Just remember, only ONE auto-reflect material per OBJECT will be calculated. If you need more mirrors, make sure they're new objects. – Phil

Peter; I am wondering if perhaps your faces are flipped, so you are actually seeing the mirror reflection in the bottom faces of the CB, not the top faces. Just a thought. Zac (AZ-TECH) Berkley
