#Windows version??
7 messages in this thread
I'm new to this forum, so I hope that this hasn't already been done to death…
Any chance of a version for Windows? or Win32? or Chicago?
Failing that, any chance of menus that look a *little* bit like windows? It
would make it much, much easier to get the hang of it, and apart from the fact
that you have hundreds of people who are now used to the old arrangement <g>…
Neville,

Pardon me, but I don't think I actually asked for details about the future.
Please quote me accurately!
I'm sorry that an innocent message recieved such a curt reply. I was using a
friendly British turn of phrase* to express my _wishes_ for Animator Pro. Is
this not what the wish-list forum is for?

Neville:
Please don't take the "curtness" of the reply personally, but this IS a
question (or the type of question) that gets asked probably once a day. It's
been Autodesk's policy for a long time, and many of the Adesker's by now just
have a programmed macro to send the "we don't comment" message.
There has been a lot of discussion here in the past (and the threads may still
be active — you might want to look) about the pluses (and minuses) of NT vs
UNIX vs etc. as OS's for 3DS. But it is all purely speculation and conjecture.
Right now, the big impediment to any platform conversion is IPAS. While IPAS
is a great strength to the existing 3DS platform, how to support those routines
(especially since the majority are all 3rd party) under all those OS's that
people want to see, is the big question, apparently. That's causing (as I
understand it) some of the delay in seeing the SGI render engine (an intent
that's been announced as being developed jointly by Autodesk and SGI).
Anyway, please don't be put off, and I think you'll find this forum a GREAT
resource — but we often bicker like old married folk, so keep a thick skin!

My wishlist is for a Windows Anipro player that doesn't paste a border around
my animation when I run it under Powerpnt.

Thanks Dave,
Consider my skin thickened! I have found the forum useful already, and I can
understand the situation better now !

Neville

Great! Glad to have you aboard. While Adesk won't tell you their future
plans, you certainly CAN influence them. The content of this forum is widely
distributed at Adesk, and you can make an impassioned plea as a wishlist item,
posted to this section (addressed to Jonas) for r5 and beyond. This forum's
wishlist pretty much seems to have shaped the r4 feature set (combined with
competitive pressures, of course).
